Bayside heats with water. The cooling comes down from the attic.
Bayside's detached colonials and splits were built around hot-water heat — no ducts anywhere — and the neighborhood's classic upgrade adds cooling from above: an attic system serving the house through the ceilings.
The attic-over-hydronic design.
Adding cooling to a baseboard- or radiator-heated house does not require touching the heating at all. The attic takes an air handler; short duct runs feed ceiling registers in the rooms below; the condenser sits beside the house in the yard these lots actually have; and the hot-water heat keeps doing winters exactly as built. The craft points are specific: insulated duct properly supported in a hot attic, registers placed for throw rather than convenience, a second-floor return that lets the system breathe, and condensate handled with a safe path and a pan that means it. Done right, the house gains central cooling with nearly nothing visible below the ceiling line.
Bayside's full practice.
The same houses eventually need their boilers succeeded, their baseboards serviced, and — in the ranches and high-ranches — designs adapted to single-story attics and split levels. All of it runs on the scheduled practice from Clifton: assessment at the house, written proposal, confirmed dates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bayside questions, where the cooling comes down from the attic.
Can our Bayside colonial get central air without wall units or new radiator work?
Yes — the attic system is the neighborhood's standard answer. Cooling arrives through ceiling registers from above; the hot-water heat below is untouched.
Does an attic system cool the first floor too?
It can, with duct drops through closets to first-floor ceilings — or the first floor takes a modest ductless head while the attic system owns the bedrooms. The house's layout picks the combination, and the proposal prices it.
