Washington Heights, Manhattan

Washington Heights is our first exit in Manhattan.

Our trucks enter Manhattan at the George Washington Bridge, which makes Washington Heights the Manhattan neighborhood our routes reach first — and its grand prewar housing stock keeps those routes busy.

Big prewar apartments, cooled the permitted way.

The Heights holds some of Manhattan's largest prewar apartments, in elevator buildings that never had central cooling and never will. What their boards permit, we install cleanly: through-wall sleeves cut and fitted where the building has standardized them, modern quiet units replacing the aging ones already in the wall, and ductless systems in the buildings that have opened that door — each project running through the alteration process the building requires. For the apartments themselves, the win is real cooling that doesn't colonize the windows of rooms with river light.

Building-side work.

The same buildings need owner-side service — boiler plants maintained through heat season, common-area equipment kept honest — and we take that work on scheduled terms, coordinated with supers and managing agents who want a contractor that shows up when the calendar says.

Frequently Asked Questions

Washington Heights questions, the first stop over the bridge.

Can a through-wall sleeve be added where there's never been one?

Only with the building's blessing — structure, facade, and house rules all weigh in — and where the building permits it, we handle the cut, the sleeve, the unit, and the exterior finish as one documented scope. Where the building has standardized positions, the project is simpler still.

Why does your Manhattan work start in Washington Heights?

Geography — the bridge lands here, our shop sits fifteen minutes on the other side of it, and the neighborhood's buildings have given us steady reasons to cross. Work is scheduled in advance like all of our New York projects.

Pacific Air also serves neighboring Inwood and Harlem.
